The motonony and solitude of a quiet life stimulates the creative mind.
Albet Enstein
I used to listen to dozens of podcasts and read every newsletter in my inbox. I am much more selective now. I choose silence over podcasts. Daydreaming over emails. And books over going out.
More silence, the more time your brain has to work, and the more creative you will be.
📊 COMPANY: Feather AI
One of the biggest issues for podcasters and podcast listeners is transcribing show notes (so people know where to go in the episode and understand what the show is about).
Feather AI was created by Josh Cadorette to solve this.
It’s super simple to use.
I’ve already started using Feater and would pay a small monthly subscription once they add Spotify. More AI companies to make my life easier, please.
🏄🏽♂️ PERSON: Rob Machado (1973 - Present)
Rob is a legendary Australian-American soul surfer from San Diego.
Soul surfers are people who surf for the mere pleasure of surfing (I know insane, right). There are millions of soul surfers around the world, but none are as famous or talented as Rob.
He’s won the triple crown of surfing, the U.S. Open (the largest U.S. mainland surfing event), and 12 Championship Tour events.
You probably know him from his role in Surfs Up, where he played the animated version of himself alongside surfing GOAT and good friend, Kelly Slater. He also wrote and starred in his own movie, The Drifter
While Rob is one of the best surfers of all time, the reason I respect and admire him is because he does it his way. You can’t put him in a box.
You look at him and see dreads, tan skin, and the frame of a light post (guy weighs 140 lbs). He talks like the typical Southern California kid who hung out at the skate park too long and started mimicking the 17-year-old high school dropout.
You know what I am trying to get out - Rob looks like a SoCal stoner who doesn’t give a f***.
But the guy has done a lot of things, I hope I would have the courage to follow through with:
Left competition surfing, after they didn’t grant him an injury wildcard due to some bureaucratic B.S.
He parted ways with Hurley after the company was sold off and the Hurley family was ousted from the brand
The Rob Machado Foundation has provided 600k+ gallons of water to our youth
He’s played the guitar on stage with PearlJam and Jack Johnson
Watch any Rob Machado interview and you will instantly fall in love with his calm demeanor and smooth words.
In a world driven by money and greed people who go at their own pace, with their own beat, stand out.
Respect to Rob. Legend.
✍🏼 WORD: Acerbic
Sharp or critical, sarcastic, or ironic in temper, mood, or tone.
English speakers created acerbic in the 19th century by adding -ic to the adjective acerb. Acerb had been used to describe foods with a sour taste.
Acerbic comes from the Latin adjective acerbus, which can mean "harsh" or "unpleasant.”
